RUN

[Spoken Word] I wrote a few years ago but still hold true now.

So I’m running this race. And these things keep weighing me down I need to fix my eyes on the prize Don’t let the lies with their tries, Scupper me

I will not believe I will not let it drag me down

I will throw off, Break off, Flee from what keeps Me from Moving on He is better That’s my prize

My prize is worth more Than the world and its offers Than what it says matters the haters and scoffers The ways in which I have been taught to be Those falsehoods I knew, they no longer know me I’m transformed

I won’t waste my life Caught in trouble and strife through not following him Though another way seems easy I will choose the road less travelled He is better He is my prize

I can not twist his word Make it mine, Make it more easily satisfying to my soul His way is true, it’s divine And it’s transforming my mind

I’m New creation, no longer conformed But changed, rearranged, to the light. I’m restored The old has gone the new is here And though these lies try to sink me I have perfect love that casts out my fear

But what is true and what I see Is I don’t have to try and I don’t have to be Because it’s not about how I do this But how it was done Always about the one

And I am not alone in a fight But going before me is the Kingdom of light So when these things come and bite at my heels I will not back down Or compromise and make deals, I live for Christ and have died to me He is better, He is worth it or rather He is worthy

and these things that hinder me the falsehoods, lies, insecurities will not pull down or distract this girl cos He that is in me Is greater than him of this world

So do not let things hinder you Draw you away or restrict your view Don’t let it knock you From the rock on which you stand Or take your hand Lead you into sinking sand Which from a distance looked quite grand But drags you down

You were made for more than this He is better He is your prize So child lift your eyes And let’s run
